On 27th of September, Ruta took part in the De Verbeelding Festival in the municipality of Pijnacker-Nootdorp.
It was an unusual location and a different performance setting for us. The atmosphere was warm and open, and we were genuinely touched by the interest of the audience. People stopped to listen, asked questions, and engaged with Ukrainian vocal traditions with curiosity and attention. There was a strong sense of connection, which made the experience truly meaningful.
De Verbeelding brought music, art, and people together across unexpected locations, and performing in this context was a valuable and enriching experience for our ensemble. Sharing Ukrainian choral music in such an informal, lively environment offered us a new perspective.
At the same time, this concert was a moment of reflection for us as musicians. It reminded us how essential silence, focus, and natural acoustics are for our repertoire. Spaces that allow the voice to resonate freely — such as churches and other acoustically supportive venues — enable our music to unfold with its full depth and nuance.
